“As people are closest to us, that is how we become.” This applies especially to youth. College, church, or online — friendships can shape the direction of our lives.

1️⃣ Who is a Friend? And Why is It Important?

Humans cannot live alone. God created us for relationships. But not every friend lifts you up — some pull you down. Proverbs 13:20 says: “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”

👉 This means: friendship can either build you or break you.

2️⃣ What is a True Christian Friend?

• 🛐 One who draws you closer to God
• 🗣️ One who speaks the truth even when it’s hard
• 🙌 One who can pray with you
• 🤝 One who genuinely wants your spiritual well-being
• 🙏 One who strengthens your faith rather than weakens it

A true friend not only gives time, but helps you grow in Christ.

3️⃣ How to Avoid Bad Influence?

1 Corinthians 15:33 – “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’”

• 🚫 Stay away from groups where gossip, sin, or mockery is common
• 📱 Choose carefully who you follow on social media
• 🧠 If a friend weakens your purity, faith, or spiritual mindset, ask: Is this friendship from God?

👉 Friendship should be ended lovingly, with truth and self-control.

4️⃣ Are You an Influence Yourself?

This question is also important: “Am I a blessing to my friends?”

• 💬 Do your words inspire or mock?
• 🙏 Do you pray for others?
• 👣 Can people see Jesus in your life?

Every Christian youth should represent Jesus through their life. Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
